There’s another incredibly busy month coming up for the Network,

News
Attention, Special Health Board managers!
Although Network events are listed by the territorial board area that
they take place in, this does not mean that managers in the national Special
Health Boards are excluded – just the opposite, in fact. Two of
the MDN facilitators have responsibility for specific Special Boards:
Madeleine O’Brien, who covers the Golden Jubilee Hospital, State
Hospital and NHS24, and Beverley Beasant, who has responsibility for NHS
Education for Scotland, National Services Scotland and the Scottish Ambulance
Service.
In recognition that management challenges can crop up in and be common to any type of organisation, regardless of whether they provide local or national services, events organised by Beverley and Madeleine are designed with Special Board managers in mind just as much as those from territorial boards. If you are a manager in a Special Health Board and you have views or ideas about how the Network can meet your particular development needs, Madeleine and Beverley would love to hear from you. Contact them at the details below.
Karen Darke to provide inspiration in North region
Managers in the North region will be able to attend a very special Network
event next month, when Inverness local Karen Darke will talk to Network
participants at the Kingsmill Hotel on 18 March.
Karen comes highly recommended as a motivational speaker. Paralysed from the chest down in a clifff all at the age of 21, Karen refused to accept that her disability should limit her achievements and overcame physical and mental challenges to, amongst many other adventures, cross the mountains of Central Asia by handbike and, most recently, kayak to the San Rafael glacier in Patagonia.
Karen’s personal story has provided inspiration for audiences of all kinds, and her professional experience as a coach, mentor and lifelong learning adviser means that she understands the needs of organisations and the individuals working within them to embrace change and overcome obstacles.
Read more about Karen and her work and adventures at www.karendarke.com/ and book your free place to hear her speak at http://mandevnet.wordpress.com/.
Catch up on past events at online archive
If you’ve missed a Network event in your own area or liked the sound
of one that happened elsewhere in Scotland, you can read presentations
and handouts, where available, at the IHM Scotland website’s archive
of MDN events, www.ihmscotland.co.uk/mdn/eventsarchive.php and, for the
North region, in the Past Events tab of the Magnetic North website, http://mandevnet.wordpress.com/events/.
If you see an event on a topic that interests you which hasn’t taken
place in your region, contact your relevant Facilitator.
